Process: Drying out a wall (Steps 1&2)
This Edmonton home experienced leakage from heavy rainfall due to a summer storm blowing through. When large amounts of rain fall, the top soil can become saturated, resulting in the water leaking into nearby buildings. The rain leaked behind this window and into the basement. Water trapped in a wall can not only result in water damage but also mould growth.
Steps 1 & 2: Open the Wall.
In order to properly dry the wall, the drywall needs to be removed. Also, once the insulation gets wet, it loses its efficiency, os it must be removed as well. As soon as the wall has been opened air needs to be introduced to dry the area.
